Description

This piece is an exemplary work by Mr. Zhang Changjiu that integrates calligraphy with archaeology. The theme, “Yu Hua Wu Ji” (Boundless Splendor with China), originates from Han dynasty eave tile inscriptions. At the center of the work is the phrase “Yu Hua Wu Ji” written in ancient seal script. The strokes are steady and bold, with a natural and unrestrained rhythm, presenting a harmonious unity of form and spirit. On the right, a red seal imprint reproduces a rubbing of the original eave tile, enhancing the sense of historical depth. On the left, an inscription written in semi-cursive script recounts the grand historical event of the western relocation of Huayin city during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Western Han dynasty. The prose is refined, with a tone that is both elegant and archaic. Fluent in style, the text combines historical narrative with artistic reflection, showcasing the calligrapher’s profound knowledge of history and refined artistic sensibility. The overall composition is dignified and graceful, with rich variation in script styles. This work successfully unifies text, calligraphic art, and archaeological culture, making it an outstanding example of scholarly and aesthetic synthesis.
