Description

This work is another exemplary creation by Mr. Zhang Changjiu that integrates calligraphy with archaeology. The theme, “Union with the Eternal Hua” (*Yu Hua Wu Ji*), originates from the inscription on a Han dynasty *wadang* (roof tile end). The central characters “與華無極” are written in ancient seal script, with lines that are steady and robust, and brushstrokes that flow freely and naturally, forming a harmonious whole. On the right, the ink rubbing of the original *wadang* adds a sense of historical depth. The inscription on the left is rendered in running script. The overall composition is solemn and elegant, with rich variation in calligraphic styles. Combining textual meaning, artistic expression, and archaeological context, this is an outstanding calligraphic work that embodies a seamless unity of literature, art, and history.
