The scholar, unburdened by petty worries, dispatches the bright moon to ascend the lofty tower, seeking health and longevity. Plucking leaves and flying flowers to slay tigers and wolves, the sword's long cry drives away ghosts in throngs. The painting opens up a new vista, the poem creates vast waves that agitate the lake. Figures of ages past look askance, having already ascended the peak, they permit the traveler to prevail. Flowers are unbroken, Xiaotian Zhou. Pointing to the clouds, the rain is called back, eternal thoughts are exhausted, and the spirit is thick and vigorous. Rising against the wind, one wishes to roam the heavens. In the spring of Renyin, Nancun.

A tall figure painting of a scholar in a blue robe and red headscarf, pausing with a sword beneath a weathered tree. Light color and ink combine a classical Chinese figure with Wu’s own lyrical inscription, expressing an unrestrained heroic mind. Dark floral silk mounts the hanging scroll.
