Dream of the Butterfly III (《夢蝶》 系列 3)

In this third entry of the nine-piece "Dream of the Butterfly" series, meticulous gongbi brushwork renders a butterfly in vivid color against a backdrop of carefully detailed plants on silk. The inscribed couplet by Li Bai, 'In August the butterflies turn golden, flying in pairs over the western garden grass,' introduces the warmth of late summer and the idea of companionship. Through the Zhuangzi-inspired lens of the series, the paired butterflies become a meditation on connection, impermanence, and the dreamlike quality of shared moments.
