Dream of the Butterfly V (《夢蝶》 系列 5)

A butterfly floats among meticulously rendered plants on silk, its delicate wings captured in luminous gongbi detail. The inscribed couplet, 'The cicada sheds its shell beyond the dust; the butterfly dreams of a land of water and clouds,' evokes transcendence and transformation, two creatures escaping the mundane world through metamorphosis. Within the nine-piece "Dream of the Butterfly" series, this work most directly addresses the Zhuangzi theme of spiritual liberation, the butterfly drifting toward a realm where water and cloud dissolve all boundaries.
