Description
A butterfly dances among intricately detailed plants in this gongbi work on silk, brought to life through delicate strokes and rich, luminous color. The inscribed couplet by Su Shi, 'Flowers bloom on the path as butterflies take flight; the landscape endures, but the people of old are gone,' strikes a note of historical melancholy. Within the nine-piece "Dream of the Butterfly" series, this work juxtaposes nature's cyclical renewal with the irreversibility of human time, the butterfly's freedom set against the weight of memory.
