Ink Wash Gourd (水墨葫蘆)

Executed entirely in monochrome ink, this study of a single gourd showcases the full tonal range of the medium—from pale washes defining the fruit's rounded form to dense, saturated strokes in the canopy of leaves above. The trailing vines animate the composition with calligraphic energy. Dated to the Gengzi year (2020) and bearing two of the artist's seals, the work exemplifies Wang Fei's meditative, unadorned approach to traditional literati subjects.
