Description
A freely brushed gourd hangs amid spiraling vines, rendered in bold ink with touches of ochre that warm the composition. Wang Fei employs the xieyi (freehand) approach with assured, varied brushwork—thick strokes for the broad leaves, fine trailing lines for the tendrils. The artist's inscription, signed under his literary name "Cave Dweller," describes the work as "playful ink" (墨戲), reflecting the Chan Buddhist spirit of spontaneity that underpins his practice.
