Description
This vermilion-ink couplet reads: 'On a plain wall, faintly sketched, the Three Buddhas appear; in a humble earthen vase, one plum branch soaks in fragrance' (素壁淡描三世佛，瓦瓶香浸一枝梅). The pairing of sacred Buddhist imagery with a simple plum blossom captures the Zen aesthetic of finding transcendence in the ordinary. Written in flowing semi-cursive script and signed 'Liao Weng' (了翁), the piece radiates quiet, understated poetic beauty.
