Description
Sparse plum blossoms cling to twisting, powerful branches on this silk card, painted at the threshold between winter's end and spring's arrival. The inscribed couplet, 'Spring wind scatters snow-like plum blossoms; fragrance fills West Lake with wine-laden boats' (春風吹散梅花雪，香滿西湖載酒船), conjures a vivid scene of petals drifting like snowflakes over the famous lake, their scent mingling with the festive air of boats bearing wine.
