Description
A cluster of houses sits on a mountain plateau, encircled by bamboo groves that sway in the foreground while mist-shrouded peaks recede into the distance. The composition embodies the Chinese shanshui (mountain-water) tradition of imagining an ideal dwelling removed from worldly concerns. Cloud and bamboo, permanence and movement, architecture and wilderness find quiet balance across the layered ink-wash planes.
